Common questions

A payment reminder never arrived

Reminders are local notifications from your iPhone. Work down this list:

  1. Open the vendor and check it has a balance due date. Without one there is nothing to remind you about, and the app will say so on the vendor screen.
  2. Check the balance is not already marked paid. A settled vendor stops reminding you.
  3. Check the reminder date has not already passed. Setting a reminder for five days before a due date that is tomorrow leaves nothing to fire.
  4. Check notifications are allowed. The app asks the first time you set a reminder, never at launch. If you said no, open Settings inside the app and use Open notification settings, or go to the iPhone Settings app, find Wedding Planner, and turn Allow Notifications on.
  5. Check a Focus mode or Scheduled Summary isn't holding notifications back. Reminders are delivered in the morning of the day you chose.

Is there a limit on vendors, or anything to pay for?

There is no limit on vendors, and the free version stays complete: unlimited vendors, the full checklist, the full guest list, every reminder, and what you have paid, still owe and committed in total.

From version 1.1 there is one optional purchase, Lifetime Premium: a single one-time payment, not a subscription, that adds the real all-in total, what is still to come, the money timeline, and your target and the gap. The price is shown in the app, in your local currency, before you buy.

If you had version 1.0, those four views were free then and stay free for you: nothing to buy. Settings shows Full version ยท Included. On a new iPhone, Restore Purchases checks your App Store record and brings them back.

How do I restore Lifetime Premium?

Open the Budget tab, tap the gear at the top left, and tap Restore Purchases. It is also on the purchase screen. Use the same Apple Account you bought it with. Restoring brings back the purchase, not your data: data moves between iPhones only through an iPhone backup, as described below. Refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

My data isn't on my new iPhone

The app keeps everything on one device and does not sync through iCloud. Data moves to a new iPhone only through an iPhone backup: restore an encrypted backup of the old phone onto the new one and the app's data comes with it. Signing in to the same Apple Account on a fresh phone does not bring it across on its own.

My wedding date changed

Settings tab, then Wedding date. The checklist regroups itself around the new date, and tasks you have already ticked off stay ticked.

I want to start over

Settings tab, then Delete All Data. It removes every vendor, task and guest from the device, cancels any scheduled reminders, and returns the app to the first-run setup screen. It cannot be undone.

Reporting a problem

Include as much of this as you can. It usually saves a round trip:

  • App version, from the bottom of the Settings tab
  • Your iPhone model and iOS version, from the iPhone Settings app under General, then About
  • What you were doing, step by step, when it went wrong
  • What you expected to happen, and what happened instead
  • A screenshot, if the problem is something you can see

Please don't send your wedding data. Real vendor amounts, contract details and guest names are never needed to fix a bug, and the app is built so that nobody here ever sees them. Blur or crop anything private before sending a screenshot.

Feature requests

Send them to the same address. The app deliberately has no seating chart, no vendor directory, no wedding website and no bank import, and asking for one of those is useful information rather than a nuisance.
